Trilogy Hits the Road!

Hi all!

Chick is back on the road this month with Christian McBride and Brian Blade as they tour their brand-new, highly-acclaimed album Trilogy 2!

La Jolla, CA

Balboa Theatre, 2 October 2019

The tour started off in La Jolla, CA where the group tore through their first show together in months as though they hadn’t stopped playing with each other for a single day. On top of the textbook perfect early-autumn weather the San Diego area was having, those attending from the sunny seaside town had a lot more to smile about by the end of the night.

Los Angeles, CA

Royce Hall, 3 October 2019

Then was a two-day Los Angeles jamboree which started off at the illustrious Royce Hall Auditorium on the UCLA campus. The packed house, which featured some high-profile guests, ate up the performance and brought the party backstage afterwards with musicians, actors and well-known names such as Garrett Morris of Saturday Night Live fame attending.

Irvine, CA

Barclay Theatre, 4 October 2019

The following day came a show at the Barclay Center in Irvine, where Chick’s lifelong friend and NBA hall-of-famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar graced the band with an onstage introduction and related the story of how he first met Chick when he was only 16 years old! His surprise appearance set the tone for a fantastic night in front of a sold-out crowd.

Mesa, AZ

Mesa Center for the Arts, 6 October 2019

The group then traveled to Mesa, AZ and played at the Ikeda Theater. The crowd was once again energized by the dynamic trio’s set which included sonatas, standards and a hearty dosage of Thelonious Monk.

Santa Fe, NM

Lensic Theater, 8 October 2019

Finally, a gig in Santa Fe, NM capped off the week. After another trademark above-and-beyond show by the trio, a group of young fans gathered at the front of the stage and were greeted by Chick who, in conversing with them, discovered that they were a group of musicians from a high school in Arlington, TX that drove over 10 hours just to see him! They were elated to meet him and likewise, he was happy to talk to such an enthusiastic group of young musicians.

More to come soon!
