“Spain” on NPR’s Top 100 Jazz Songs

One of Chick’s best-known contributions to the jazz canon, “Spain,” was just named among the top 100 jazz songs of all time by the listeners of NPR.

1,500 listeners cast ballots of their favorite tunes, and “Spain” landed at #23, right between two of Chick’s heros: Horace Silver and Miles Davis.

“Spain” was first released on the 1972 album Light As a Feather, and since then Chick has cast it in just about every imaginable setting, from solo, to big-band, to full orchestra.
